Mission: The Siouxland food policy consists of a diverse group of stakeholders working together to create a secure, accessible, affordable, healthy and sustainable regional food system through advocacy and education.

 

Areas identified to work on:

1) Expand mobile markets, pantries, health food, trucks/carts

2) Expand farmer's market voucher program (all markets accept snap)

3) Expand nutrition/cooking/food education

4) Develop a food hub – Trader Sioux

5) Establish community gardens - ISU

6) Develop food processing facilities, food incubators and/or community kitchens

 

Siouxland Food Policy will:

1)Connect economic development, food security efforts, preservation of ag. & and environmental concerns

2)Support the development and expansion of locally produced food

3)Review proposed legislation and regulations that affect food systems

4)Make recommendations to government books

5)Gather synthesize and share information on community food systems
